Anna McCauley Johnson, 55, passed away on March 10, 2013 at her home in Verona, Va. She was born on July 3, 1957 to Solomon and Louise McCauley at the University Of Virginia.

She graduated from Albemarle County High School in 1976 and moved to the Shenandoah Valley a few years later in 1980.

Anna enjoyed sewing and crocheting everything from quilts and blankets to doll dresses and hats for her friends and family. No matter what life brought her way, she always knew how to be a loving mom. The many smiles and laughs expressed how much she loved spending time with her grandchildren, as it seemed to be the highlight of any day. Keeping in touch with family was very important to her. She looked forward to late night phone calls with her sister, some lasting for hours. She also enjoyed conversations with people from all walks of life. Her warm and caring personality made her easy to talk to and she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Johnson; three sons, Curtis Herring and fiancée, Jamie Shipe, Travis Herring, Rodney Herring and girlfriend, Heather Lawson; two step children, Roger Simmons and Lisa Johnson; four grandchildren, Brianna Herring, Alyssa Herring, Courtney Herring, and Jacob Herring; three sisters, Betty and husband, Andrew Frazier, of Barboursville, Va., Doris McCauley of Barboursville, Va., Paula and husband, Keith Huckstep, of Crozet, Va.; four brothers, David McCauley of Free Union, Va., Edward and wife, Diana McCauley, of Advance Mills, Va., Pete and wife, Anne McCauley, of Free Union, Va., Henry McCauley of Free Union, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James McCauley; and parents, Solomon and Louise McCauley.

A funeral service will be held at Free Union Church of the Brethren on Friday March 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation starts at 1:00 p.m. before the service and the reception will take place after the service, both at Free Union Church of the Brethren. Arrangements are with Henry Funeral Home.
