ALICE B. STATON FISHERSVILLE, VA Alice Lucille (Brown) Staton, 82, widow of Clarence Elwood Staton, Sr., of 83 Crossroads Lane, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born August 24, 1930 in Fishersville, daughter of the late Charles M. and Elsie (Monroe) Brown. Mrs. Staton was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, Class of 1948. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center. She was a member of Linden Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, and her husband who preceded her in death on October 2, 1996, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Maynard Brown and Theodore Alton Brown; and a sister, Carolyn Brown. Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and James Thompson and Beverly and Buford Gregory, Jr.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray and Rebecca Staton, Carl and Teresa Staton, and Mickey Staton; seven brothers, Hubert Lyle Brown, Charles M. Brown, Jr., Leonard P. Brown, Tom Brown, Buck Brown, Lester Brown, and Gary Brown; five sisters, Vera Brown, Mildred Bower, Joyce Clatterbaugh, Dot Hall, and Elizabeth Little; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, in the Linden Heights Baptist Church by the Revs. Luke Smith and Richard Owen. Burial will follow in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren and Nephews: Kevin Staton, Wesley Staton, Ralph Jackson, Chad Staton, Jason Wolfe, Ronnie Brown, Brent Brown, Mark Brown, Paul Brown, Mikey Little, Blake Brown, and Chris Brown. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Linden Heights Baptist Church, Building Fund, 371 Linden Drive, Staunton, VA 24401. The family extends their deep appreciation to Hospice of the Shenandoah and to the Staff of Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially Shawnetta Woodson and Karen Riley.
