ALMA G. CREGER VIRGINIA BEACH, VA Alma Gregory Creger, 83, widow of James H. Creger, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Sentara Village in Virginia Beach where they had both been residents for 2 years. She was born December 26, 1930, in Beckley, WV, the daughter of Noah S. Gregory and Elsie (McCormick) Gregory. She is survived by two sons, James H. Creger, II of Glen Allen VA and Thomas N. Creger of Birmingham AL; a daughter Diana C. Porter of Suffolk VA; three grandchildren; a brother, Noah S. Gregory Jr of Grayson KY; and a sister Alice Gregory Hall of Huntington WV. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim just three weeks earlier; and a son, Matthew S. Creger. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Staunton. Alma was employed by the Staunton City School Board for 26 years; first as a school secretary at John Lewis Junior High School and later in the school Board Office as an administrative assistant. Alma was a avid reader of American and especially Virginia History pertaining to the founding fathers of our country and was an interpreter at the Woodrow Wilson Manse and Museum for many years. She was also an active member of MADD. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A private graveside service will be conducted in Augusta Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Gentiva Hospice 5544 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach VA 23462. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
