Arlene Belle Gilmer

ARLENE R. GILMER ST. AUGUSTINE, FL Arlene Belle Rawley Gilmer, 95, of St. Augustine, Fl, formerly of Staunton, VA, died Mon, Oct 1, 2012, at Emeritus Assisted Living Senior Center in St. Augustine. She had lived in St. Augustine for 4 1/2 years with her son, Jeriel and recently at the Pavilion and Emeritus. She was born in Mt. Solon, April 8, 1917, to Elsie and Ott Rawley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Preston Hogshead Gilmer, sisters, Charlene Long, Hazel Lee Gllmer, Evelyn Sheets, and brothers Warren and Garland Rawley. Survivors are one son, Jeriel Gilmer, and daughter-in-law, Janet Gilmer of St. Augustine, Fl; one granddaughter, Melissa Gilmer of Valrico, Fl; one sister, Eunice and brother-in-law Garland Sheets of Staunton, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of North River High School. She worked at Staunton Hosiery Mill, the dining room of Mary Baldwin College, was assistant manager of the Gospel Book Center and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of God-Anderson. The funeral will be at 10:30, Monday, Oct. 8 at the First Church of God with Rev. Sylvia McDorman. Burial will be at Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at Henry Funeral Home, Staunton.
