STAUNTON -- Arlene Elizabeth (Paxton) Viel, 85, widow of Norwood Gray "Roy" Viel, died on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her home with family and friends by her side. She was born September 4, 1926 in Augusta County, daughter of the late Erskine S. and Althea Arlene (Lotts) Paxton. Before retiring, she was employed at Kings Daughter's Hospital. She was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a piano accompanist for the Marquis Children's Choir and the Dulciteers Quartet, and sang with the Echoes Singers. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian S. Sr. and Darlene Viel of Arbor Hill, and Clifford G. and Tina Viel of Claremont, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Viel) and Stewart Graham of Staunton; and grandchildren, Brian Jr., Christina, Matthew and Travis Viel, Melinda Good, and Yvonne Kesner; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special family members, Betty and Dick Randolph and Jane and Jimmie Jackson. A special thanks to loving friends Mary and Sheila; and loving family Pat and Nina. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Warren, and Hubert Paxton. A celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012 in Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert W. Sharp. Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2012 in Henry Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
