Austin Lee Robbins was born on June 4, 1985 in Charlottesville, Virginia at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Austin leaves behind his beloved parents, Lee and Cheryl Robbins, his sister and brother-in-law, Kristi and Joey Gutshall, his nephew and niece, Carter Lee and Morgan Bell Faye Gutshall, special cousins, Rick and Matt Irving, his fiancée, Brittany Reese, his two furry mates, Fonzie and Queen Maxine, and many cherished family members and friends. His beloved dog, Tahlia passed away before him.

Austin found his love for the food industry after finishing his education in culinary arts through Penn Foster with an internship at Keswick Vineyards. Austin expanded his culinary experience with opportunities in Vienna, leading the hot line in a 300 seat fine dining restaurant, Clarity, while making the Washingtonian’s top 5 of 100 best places to dine in the metro area. Working as a sous chef under Master Chef Gerard Gasparini of Pomme Restaurant in Gordonsville, Virginia, Austin mastered the techniques and flavors of the French cuisine. Throughout Austin’s years he enjoyed coordinating with like-minded chefs and entrepreneur’s opening various establishments in and around the Charlottesville area. Austin was an amazing chef with unbelievable talent. He admired fellow Master Chefs whom he enjoyed learning from to better his personal career. Austin worked at the Pink Grouse in the Hyatt Corporation Quirk Hotel. He loved his job, creating new dishes, and being a part of a wonderful team of people.

Austin loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Austin enjoyed to be outdoors fulfilling hobbies such as fishing, hiking, camping, and gardening. Austin had a love for woodworking and art. He loved to cook not only in the restaurant but at home as well. He would often prepare meals for family gatherings. Austin had a passion for music. He lived life to his own beat and shared his musical talent with others through drums, keyboard, and guitar. Austin enjoyed dancing especially break dancing and traveling. His sense of humor was one of many wonderful personality traits. His smile would melt your heart and his laugh was music to anyone’s ears.

Austin moved to Waynesboro, Virginia to be closer to his immediate family while continuing his career in Charlottesville. He passed away on July 9, 2020 in his home. Austin will be missed by so many. He would not want us to be mourning but rather celebrating the joyful times we have all shared with him.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Quirk Hotel Rooftop; Outdoor Space, 499 W. Main Street, Charlottesville.
