BEBEE W. CARTER NEWPORT NEWS, VA…. Mrs. Bebee Carter a resident of Newport News, Virginia, made her transition to be with the lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Bebee was born on September 30, 1930 in Moffetts Creek, Virginia to the late Hudie Pryor and Claire Walker. She was married to the late Manuel Carter, Sr. and had seven children. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Gilda Brown and Gerry Howard. At the age of five, Bebee and her late sister Charlene Stuart moved to Staunton, Virginia and attended elementary and high school. She was employed as a short order cook at Jolley View Inn in Virginia, counter attendant at Peoples Drug Store in Washington, D.C. and retired in 1990 from Hecht’s Company in Washington, D.C. She accepted God as her Savior at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Bebee loved the oldies and goodies music and every Christmas would listen to the Temptation, Silent Night and Holy Night all day long. She was a loving mother, caring grandmother, kind great grandmother and patient great great grandmother. Bebee leaves to cherish her memory to two daughters, Gloria Bryant of Mt. Rainer, Maryland and Glenna Whitlock (Kenneth) of Newport News, Virginia; three sons, Manuel Carter, Jr. of Temple Hill, Maryland, Michael Carter (Shirlena) of Lanham, Maryland and Ronald Carter of Hyattsville, Maryland; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. We thank God for her kindness and generosity. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Woodbury. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. The family will also receive friends following the service at the home of Susan Brown, 514 B Street, Staunton.
