Bernice Becky Swartz

BERNICE O. SWARTZ STAUNTON, VA Bernice B. (Orebaugh) Swartz, 93, widow of James K. Swartz, died Friday, June 29, 2012 in Staunton. She was born February 16, 1919, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Bernard R. and Cammie (Houff) Orebaugh. Mrs. Swartz attended school in Stephen City and Beverley Manor. She was a member of Cherryvale United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Women of the Church. She loved her flower garden and shared her flowers with friends and the church. In addition to her husband, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2001, she was also preceded in death by a son, James B. "J.B." Swartz, and two sisters, Mary B. Lihos and Lola O. Scott. Family members include a son and two daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Donna Swartz of Staunton and Janet S. Swartz of Greenville; sister, Jean O. Powell of Springhill; three grandchildren, Ginger Hewitt, Greg Swartz, and Angie Fleshman; five great grandchildren, Rebecca Hewitt, Hillary Campbell, Wesley Fleshman, Jessica Swartz, and Katie Swartz; and three great, great grandchildren, Hunter and Heath Campbell, and Lola James Rohr. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Pleasant View Cemetery by Larry Barrett.
