BETTY C. COSTELLO STAUNTON, VA Betty Cook Costello passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1932, in Staunton a daughter of the late Francis George and Margaret (Zuber) Cook. Betty graduated from Bridgewater College with a degree in education. She received her Master's Degree from UVA. Betty taught high school English in Staunton and Fairfax County for over 35 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling around the world. She was an active member of Hebron Presbyterian Church and the Staunton Choral Society. Betty is survived by her sister, Peggy and her husband, Elton M. Hewitt, Jr., of Swoope; Phyllis Summers of Waynesboro, who has been like a second sister; nephew, David Hewitt and wife, Laura Lee of Swoope; two nieces, Susan and husband, Claude Piche`, of Roanoke, Polly Hewitt, of Swoope; and two great nephews, Jeff Hewitt, and Brad Hewitt and wife, Tiffany. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Hebron Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church. Memorials may be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church, 423 Hebron Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or to the Staunton Choral Society, P.O. Box 2793, Staunton, VA 24402. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
