BETTY J. PENDLETON  STAUNTON, VA… Mrs. Betty Mae (Johnson) Pendleton departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Staunton, Virginia. She was born on February 25, 1932 to the late Mary Johnson. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, she was a domestic engineer in the home of the late Milton and Pearl Klotz. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Robert Addison Pendleton on February 22, 1955. She was active in all phases of church life at Ebenezer Baptist Church since her baptism in 1953. She enjoyed playing Rummikub with her close friends and was a community activist. She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband of 62 years, Robert A. Pendleton; a son, Robert Crawford; children, Karen Lee Klotz, Julie Klotz Leatherbury, and Richard Jacob Klotz; four grandchildren; brother-in-law, Landon Pendleton, Jr.; sister-in-law, Gladys V. Perry; two nephews, Eugene (Deborah) and Frank Pendleton; cousin, William Johnson, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her only brother, Charles Johnson, and a niece, Landanese P. Jackson. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 415 N Augusta Street, Staunton, VA, by Pastor Michael A. Turner.Memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2308, Staunton, Virginia 24402-2308.
