STAUNTON, VA… Mrs. Betty J. (Sandridge) Wright, 67, wife of Donald L. Wright, of 316 W. Liberty Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, April 22, 2016 at UVA Medical Center. She was born on December 15, 1948 in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late William M. and Mary (Gentry) Sandridge. Mom will be remembered for her undying love for her family.  She had a passion for quilting, crocheting, painting, cooking and her flowers.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never let them forget it.  Her presence and strong faith made life easier for everyone around her.  She was faced with many personal and health obstacles in her life but being the strong lady she was, she never gave up! In addition to her husband, which she shared four wonderful years, she is survived by four loving children, Eugene Rankin and wife Brenda of Stuarts Draft, Chris Rankin and wife Candy of Fishersville, Mary Bruce and husband James of Grottoes, and Kim Allen of Fishersville; two step children, Donna Andrews and Jeff Wright; grandchildren, Ciara Steinberg, Tyler Rankin, Justin Armstrong, Sarah Judy, Ashley Lam, Andrew Bruce, John Bruce, Brandon Allen, and Amanda Allen; great grandchildren, Rylee, Maddie, Abbey and Adeline; a sister, Carol Stewart of Harriston; a very special cousin and best friend, Barbara Capron of Charlottesville; and her little dog, Toby. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Thomas Simmons and a sister, Doris Chappell. Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Revs. Dennis Sites and Dave Dakin. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Bruce, Justin Armstrong, Tyler Rankin, Brandon Allen, John Bruce, Drake Judy, Craig Lam and Joseph Steinberg. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the funeral home and at her residence or the home of her daughter at 506 16th Street, Grottoes.
