    BOBBY LEE BARKER

    January 6, 1932 - January 13, 2014

    BOBBY L. BARKER STAUNTON, VA Bobby Lee Barker, 82, husband of Glynda (Poole) Barker, of 868 Parkview Avenue, died Monday, January 13, 2014, at his residence. He was born January 6, 1932, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Ernest Ray and Augusta (Green) Barker. Mr. Barker was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a medic in the Korean Conflict. He later served as an administrations assistant. Prior to retirement, he created and operated Barker Business Forms. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Bobby sang with The Tribunes, enjoyed playing racquetball and golf, and liked to dance. In addition to his wife, Glynda, family members include his former wife, Mabel May Barker; a son, David Aaron Barker; a daughter, Anne Elizabeth Barker Taylor and husband, Daniel; a step-daughter, Eleanor Eames Boxley Atkins; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Brock Taylor, Megan Taylor Schmidt, and David Alan Barker; four step-grandchildren, Hannah Marie Brodie, Deja Lakyle Davenport, Tyquan Schure Smith, and Daviana Atkins; three brothers, Donald Eugene Barker and wife, Lois, of N. Richland Hills, TX, and twin brothers, Doug Barker and David Barker of Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Nancy P. VanCleve of Wytheville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Barker Sutphin. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Grubb Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be his son, grandsons, grandson-in-law, Matt Schmidt, and dear family friend, Rick Christianson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Congregational Care Fund or Pastor's Discretionary Fund, 100 E. Frederick Street, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Erskine "Ruth" Sproul and Hospice of the Shenandoah.
