BONNIE JEAN (ANDERSON) RIMEL STAUNTON, VA Bonnie Jean (Anderson) Rimel, 92, widow of Charles Atlee Rimel, a longtime resident of Staunton, VA, passed away Friday August 17, 2018 in Stuart, FL. She was born in Staunton, VA on December 7, 1925, a daughter of the late James “Jimmy’ Hartwell Anderson and Ruth Vivian (Lillard) Anderson. Bonnie graduated early from Robert E. Lee High School. After graduating from Dunsmore Business College, she moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the Federal Government for several years. She and her family lived across from her father’s grocery store on Spring Hill Road, “Jimmy Anderson’s Food Mart”, for several years before moving to their farm west of Staunton, where she and her husband Charles resided for over 50 years. Bonnie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club and the Waynesboro/Staunton Antique Car Club. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law; Myrtle Alice (Anderson) Fitzgerald and husband Mark; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws. Surviving family members include, a son, Jim Rimel and wife Marilyn of Staunton; a daughter, Sarah Elmasian and husband, Rick, of Jensen Beach, FL; grandchildren, Todd Rimel and wife Rachel, of Staunton, Jason Rimel and wife Sarah of Port St. Lucie, FL, Charlie Rimel and wife Jody, of Staunton, Bonnie Strelitz-Stein and husband John “J.J.”, and Caroline Balitzer and husband Matt; 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her parrot, Mozart “Moe”. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday September 8, 2018 at Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
