BOYD W. COLLINS, JR. VESUVIUS, VA Boyd Wilson " Dump" Collins, Jr., 62, husband of Tammy Collins, of 577 Tye River Turnpike, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. He was born August 28, 1949, in Staunton, a son of the late Boyd Wilson, Sr., and Mary (Wiseman) Collins. Prior to retirement, Mr. Collins was employed by Alcoa Building Products. He was a member of Emory United Methodist Church. He was a contributing member of the Raphine Fire Department. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and was a Civil War enthusiast. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and spending time at Gerties with his friends. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph W. and Cherry Collins and David A. "Milky" and Cindy Collins, all of Greenville; two step-sons, Christopher M. Carpenter of Vesuvius and Allan K. Carpenter and his wife, Sandra, of Waynesboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph A. Collins of Fairfield and William Isaac and Barbara Collins of Mt. Solon; ten grandchildren, Jake K. Collins, Sam Collins, Caleb Reist Collins, Travis Shanks, Chasady Shanks, Amber Shanks, Andrea Collins, Tanner Collins, Hunter Collins, and Gage Bowling; three step-grandchildren, Noah Carpenter, Carter Carpenter, and Avah Carpenter; a great grandchild, Brayden Shanks; and nieces, Katie Collins, Deanna Collins, Willian Collins, Selena Collins, and Karena Collins. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Lexington Church of Christ, 522 S. Main Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Raphine Fire Department, P. O. Box 142, Raphine, VA 24472. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
