BOYD D. HOWDYSHELL STAUNTON, VA… Boyd “Dean” Howdyshell, 76, of 2493 Lee Jackson Highway, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1940 in Augusta County, a son of the late Robert “Speedy” and Helen (Knott) Howdyshell. Prior to retirement, Mr. Howdyshell was employed by Houff Transfer, Inc. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing. Family members include two sons, Mike Howdyshell and wife, Kelly, and Boyd Howdyshell II, all of Staunton; a daughter, Melissa Williams of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Ethel “Sis” Warren, Joyce “Susie” Doyle, and Anna “Betty” Thompson, all of Staunton; three grandsons; two granddaughters; special caregiver, Denise Davis of Staunton; and an amazing friend of many years, Wade Staton of Staunton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Buck” Howdyshell; a sister, Dorothy “Dot” Craig; and a nephew, Roger Howdyshell. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Clay Sterrett. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Wade Staton, Cody Craun, Scott Mizer, David Howdyshell, Herbert Davis, Sr., Ronald Hoy, and Roger Farris. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunters for the Hungry, P.O.
