Brenda Diane Campbell

STUARTS DRAFT, VA… Brenda Diane Campbell of 456 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Staunton, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Following a brief illness, she passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.  She was born on December 30, 1950, the daughter of John T. (Jack) and Mabel Whitesell Campbell.  Brenda now rejoices in Heaven as she was welcomed by her adored and missed Daddy, grandparents and Uncle Bob.  Left to cherish her memory is her beloved mother Mabel, who selflessly devoted her entire life to caring for her daughter; her siblings, Jane Wilson of Staunton, Joe (Becky) Campbell of Vesuvius, John Campbell of the home, and Wayt (Tammy) Campbell of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Todd) Wade, Ann (Anthony) Nelson, Stephen (Lindsay) Campbell, Amy (Keith) Fields, Jennifer (Brian) Campbell,  Finley (Mackenzie) Campbell, and Brittany (Chris) Black; nine great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece, and many wonderful friends and extended family members. Brenda attended Greenville Elementary School and Greenville United Methodist Church. In spite of her disabilities, she lived and loved a happy, full, and simple life.  One of her favorite past times was sitting on the front porch and rocking as she listened and sang along with her favorite country music artists.  She was always ready to wave as the cars would drive by and the horns would blow.  She found security and comfort in the warmth and feel of her cherished stuffed animals, especially “Orange Bear” and “Lady Bug”, and often would laugh, sometimes argue, as she engaged in conversation with her imaginary friends.  She knew how to openly express discontentment and in the same moment turn around and be ready to love so freely.  Brenda touched the lives of everyone who knew her, taught us many valuable lessons about life, and she will be sadly missed. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenville United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Kevin W. Haynes. The family will receive friends at the residence at any time.  Anyone wishing to make a donation in Brenda’s memory is encouraged to contribute to the Building Fund, Greenville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 250, Greenville, VA  24440.
