STAUNTON - Brian Scott Mays, a business development consultant and resident of Staunton, died unexpectedly Nov. 15, 2014, at the age of 42 while on vacation in Connecticut. Brian is survived by his mother, Estelle Virginia Campbell; his brother and sister-in-law, Sean Douglas and Warren Elizabeth Mays of Richmond; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Brian was a member of Greenville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, George Marshall Mays; his maternal grandparents, Phyllis Harlow Campbell and Morris Henley Campbell; and his paternal grandparents, Samuel Gibson and Nannie Chandler Mays. Brian was born in Waynesboro on Oct. 31, 1972, to George and Estelle Mays. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994 with a degree in psychology, and again in 1999 with an MBA, with a marketing concentration. Brian worked as a business development consultant for a number of companies in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Brian was a devoted son, brother and friend. He enjoyed living life to its fullest, touching and enriching the lives of all he met. His outpouring love and selflessness touched many lives serving as an inspiration to many. He was a fighter of life's obstacles and rose to meet its many challenges. He found faith and spiritual comfort in the Lord. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, and other times at his mother's residence, 308 Hoover St., Staunton. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Old Providence ARP Cemetery, 1005 Spottswood Road, Steeles Tavern, VA 24476, and is open to everyone. A celebration of life service for all friends and family will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Sylvia McDorman officiating. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association, United Network for Organ Sharing, or a favorite charity.
