Burton Lee Houff

BURTON L. HOUFFMOUNT SIDNEY, VA…  Burton Lee Houff, 81, husband of Sandra “Sandy” Howdyshell Houff, of 96 Valley View Drive, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at his residence.  He was born April 5, 1935, in Augusta County, a son of the late Edgar Manuel and Rosa (Talley) Houff.  Mr. Houff was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Prior to retirement, he was employed by Cerro Fabricated Products LLC as a machinist.  He was a member of Pleasant View Evangelical Lutheran Church.  In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters, Lisa Hall of Ona, WV and Debbie Nuckols and husband, Duncan of Greenville; a son, Ed Houff of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Monica Mount and husband, Shawn, Megan Simyak and husband, T.J., Matthew Hall and wife, Chelsea, Erica Knicely and friend, David Wilson, Ashby Nuckols and wife, Jerrica, Tate Houff, and Elizabeth Houff; seven great grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.    He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Twiggs and Katharine Sensabaugh; a brother, Walter L. Houff; and a son-in-law, Steven P. Hall  A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by the Rev. Jeff Dailey. Military rites will be conducted by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post #2216.  Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, sons-in-laws, and a nephew, Wayne Puffenbarger.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O.
