Betty Jane Hiner

BETTY S. HINER WAYNESBORO, VA Betty Jane Smith Hiner, a resident of Waynesboro died September 20, 2014 at the UVA Medical Center. The third of five children, she was born on May 20, 1926 in Greensburg, PA to Amanda Keenan Smith and Robert Edward Smith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John M. Hiner and a sister Esther Jean Smith. Survivors include children Susan Rogers and husband Ted; Sallie Warren and husband S. S. Ward; Larry Hiner and Goldie; Jane Mangione and husband Rick; and Wendy Dodge and husband Hollis. Also surviving are sisters Alice Wurzbacher and Twyla Langenberg and a brother Robert Smith., thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Henry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Hollis Dodge at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Michael's United Church of Christ in Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, the Salvation Army, or St. Michael's United Church of Christ.
