CARL L. BECKERDITE  STAUNTON, VA… Carl Louis Beckerdite, 75, husband of Karen (Delozier) Beckerdite, of Staunton, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Salem VA Medical Center.  He was born December 22, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, a son of the late William E. and Phyllis (Sroufe) Beckerdite.  Mr. Beckerdite was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Lucent Technologies with 40 years of service and was a member of the CWA Union Local #13590.  Carl was a member of the NRA, Catholic War Veterans, Unter Uns German Club in Pennsylvania, and Caesar Batiste. He was an avid glider pilot and enjoyed skydiving.  In addition to his wife of 55 years, family members include four sons and daughters-in-law, Carl L., II and LeAnn Beckerdite of Waynesboro, Christopher and Debra Beckerdite of Rockford, TN, Drew and Jennifer Beckerdite of Virginia Beach, and Ryan and Paula Beckerdite of Benton, AK; a daughter, Cami Beckerdite of Grass Valley, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Peggy Beckerdite of Susanville, CA; a sister-in-law, Susan Beckerdite of Grass Valley, CA; and eight grandchildren, Morgan, Hanna, Sydney, Zoey, Zayda, Madelynn, Lily, and Anderson Beckerdite. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Beckerdite and an uncle, Marvin Sroufe.    A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 in Culpeper National Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022  Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
