CAROLINE C. SCHOOLEY STAUNTON, VA Caroline Pierpont (Cobb) Schooley, 91, widow of Milton B. Schooley, of 210 Folly Mills Road, passed peacefully Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born December 10, 1922, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Margaret (Moore) Cobb. She was History Teacher Emeritus and Dean of Students at Stuart Hall. She managed the family farm, was a tutor at Riverheads Elementary School. She was an undergraduate of Mary Baldwin and received her M ed from UVA Graduate School. She was recognized as a lifetime member at Bethel Presbyterian Church and served in many offices with women of the church. She was a member of the Virginia Interfaith Council. She was a member of the Augusta County Tuesday Club, the Augusta County Gardening Club, numerous bridge and book clubs, and a founding member of the Augusta County Library. She loved sailing, was a world traveler, and an avid reader especially of history. In addition to her husband of 50 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cobb, Jr. and a sister, Margery "Pid" Scott Wright. Surviving family members include six children, Wayne (Laura) Schooley, Mike (Linda) Schooley, Barbara Gough, David (Betty) Schooley, Caroline "Cary" Farber, and Charles (Ann) Schooley; fifteen grandchildren, Felicia Mollenauer, Tamara (Dave) Leuschen, William (Allison) Schooley, Jane (Craig) Griffin, Paul Schooley, Rob (Meeghen) Gough, Robin (Henry) Moffett, Chris (Therese) Schooley, Sarah, Heather, and Lauren Farber, Opel (Tony) Lechmanski, and Becky (James) Csomay, Ashley (Robert) Burke, and Ben Keaten; and 23 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Bethel Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Phil Sommer. Interment will be private in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Holsinger, James Williams, Stuart Moffett, Guy D. Brooks, Dwayne Hartless, and Jimmy Callison. Honorary pallbearers will be Leah Farmer, Corbin Dixon, Ken Miller, Doug Cochran, Joe Cochran, David Turner, Jimmy Massie, Ken Wilkinson, Joel Clark, Alex Sproul, and John Sproul. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014, in Henry Funeral Home.
