Carolyn June (Ashby) Hite

CAROLYN A. HITE STAUNTON, VA… Carolyn June (Ashby) Hite, 81, widow of Harrison Hite of Hermitage Road, died Monday, January 30, 2017, in The Mayflower, Lexington. She was born March 3, 1935 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Grover Ashby and Christine Alice (Michael) Ashby Wine. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hite was employed by GE Genicom. She was a member of Annex United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy H. Swisher; a granddaughter, Savahana C. Swisher; a brother, G.C. Ashby; and a sister, Marie Cook. Family members include a son, Victor R. Hite of Staunton; a daughter, Danielle M. Hite of Staunton and her partner, Carl Vandevander, Sr.; a brother, Vaughn Ashby of Churchville; a sister, Madeline Campbell; seven grandchildren, Christina Rankin and Marc, Douglas “Casey” Swisher and Nicole, Alex, Emily and Gabriel Hite, Meade and Minor Vandevander; and four great grandchildren, Sierra Swisher, Ayden Rankin, Lexi and Bryce Swisher. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home.
