CAROLYN G. DEAVER Staunton, VA… Carolyn “Corky”  Lee (Gilbert) Deaver, 73, widow of David Wayne Deaver, of Staunton, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, May 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 19, 1945 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Raymond D. Gilbert and Helen D. (Wood) Harper. She was a special mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of New Life Foursquare Gospel Church.She was known as grandma Corky to everyone. If she ever kept you as a child, please let us know. Surviving family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kim Deaver of Swoope; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Tracy Carter of Staunton, Cindy Deaver of Fishersville, and Karen and Rob Robertson of Verona; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Payne of Staunton; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Lyons, Barbara and Ray Guffey, and a special friend and sister-in-law, Carolyn Dill and Frank; ten grandchildren, Kari Hildebrand, Eric Deaver, Brandon Carter, Jenni Brown, Cassie and Jared Deaver, Curtis Lowe, Kayla, Allison and Travis Robertson; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jeffery and Erika Hildebrand, Caleb and Jackson Deaver, William, Kate and Elizabeth Carter, Kemper Brown, Remi and Ivy Harris, Abel Deaver, and Oliver Boyle. In addition to her husband of 49 years, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Decker and a brother, David Gilbert. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at New Life Foursquare Gospel Church by the Rev. Brandon Carter. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eric Deaver, Jared Deaver, Travis Robertson, Curtis Lowe, Robbie Hildebrand, Alex Brown, Karel Dill, Jesse Campbell, and Gregg Vault. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Henry Funeral Home and other times at 2207 Third Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
