STAUNTON, VA… Carolyn Cassell Pettis, 73, wife of Hugh F. Pettis of Raphine, died at 6:20 a.m. on December 25, 2017, in King’s Daughters’ Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 10, 1944, in Bassett, a daughter of the late J. Irving and Elsie (Ferguson) Cassell. She retired as a medical transcriptionist. Carolyn was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Folly Mills. In addition to her husband, family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Rich Callahan of Danville and Susan Davis and Lawrence Sexton, of Versailles Kentucky; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Clem of Harrisonburg; her granddaughter, Brandy L. Callahan; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the Church of the Good Shepherd by the Rev. David Elphee. A celebration of her life will follow in the social hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local Alzheimer’s Association Chapter.
