Carter Braxton Hoover

CARTER B. HOOVER STAUNTON, VA Carter Braxton Hoover, 89, of 135 Bellview Street, Staunton, passed way, Monday, July 18, 2011 at King's Daughters' Health and Rehab Center. He was born April 24, 1922 in Augusta County, a son of the late Arch Hoover and Anna Jane (Rexrode) Hoover Bruce . Prior to retirement, Mr. Hoover had been employed for twenty-three years with Columbia Gas. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during WWII. Family members include two sons, Donnie Hoover of Richmond and Gary Hoover of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Betty Rexrode of Staunton and Barbara Campbell of Henrico County; a brother, Merlyn Hoover of Crimora; his fiance` and best friend, Violet S. Fauber of Staunton; a number of grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Carter Braxton Hoover, Jr.; four sisters; three brothers; and a half-brother. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Henry Funeral Home.
