Catherine Marie (Johnson) Strother

CATHERINE M. STROTHER  STAUNTON, VA… Catherine Marie (Johnson) Strother, 92, departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Envoy of Staunton. She was born on November 24, 1924 in Staunton, Virginia. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and caring for children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur Leo Strother, Sr.; her brother, Cecil (Henry) Galimore; and daughter, Jacqueline Evett (Strother) Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memory with two sons, Wilbur Leo Strother, Jr. and Donald Lee Strother and wife, Deborah; three daughters, Claudia Gaines and husband, Stuart, JoAnn Williams and husband, Steve, and Jean Johnson; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends; and  special friend, Margaret Morgan.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. A repast will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship room of Augusta Street United Methodist Church, 325 North Augusta Street, Staunton.
