He was born on January 2, 1920 in Bath County, a son of the late Clyde and Ida May (Grimm) Mace. Mr. Mace was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church and VFW Post 2216. He was a retired sheet metal worker who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving family members include two brothers, Clyde Mace of Swoope and Donald Mace of Berkeley Springs, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Michael Leroy Mace; five brothers, Ivan, Warren, Wesley, Harold, and Conley Mace; and a sister, Marie Wiseman. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert W. Sharp. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Graveside rites will be conducted by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post 2216. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 in the funeral home.
