Charles Bradford Benson

CHARLES B. BENSON STAUNTON, VA Charles Bradford Benson, 90, of Staunton, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 3, 1921, in Augusta County, a son of the late George Preston and Celissa Rebecca (Helmick) Benson. Mr. Benson was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the European Theatre. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a custodian at Wilson Elementary. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mervin and Sarah Benson of Churchville and Kenneth and Yvette Benson of Bridgewater; two grandsons, Dakota and Chayton Benson; and two nieces, Becky and Caroline. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hansford Benson and two sisters, Ruby Bragg and Betty Smith. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. Memorials may be made to Valley Program for Aging, 325 Pine Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
