CHARLES B. COOK CHURCHVILLE, VA Charles Brinton Cook, 99, widower of Jane (Olsen) Cook, of 149 Scenic Highway, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at his residence. He was born November 11, 1914, in Haddonfield, New Jersey, a son of the late Carl B. and Ada (Mason) Cook. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was very proud of his military service and enjoyed telling stories. Prior to retirement, Mr. Cook was owner of Maco Dye. As a young man Mr. Cook worked in the family leather goods business as a salesman. In 1949 he founded a company called Plastic Suppliers and expanded the business into plastic goods. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Staunton/Waynesboro Antique Auto Club, the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club and Rolls Royce Car Club. He also enjoyed participating in dog shows and had several award winning show dogs. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor C. Harvey, Lillian C. Deibert and Miriam C. Wilby. Family members include two nieces, Gwendolyn Bunker and Cindy Williams and 4 nephews Charles Wilby, Robert Wilby, David Wilby (deceased) and Timothy Harvey. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Judy Hensley. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Graveside rites will be provided by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post 2216. Active pallbearers will be Al Morkunas, Harold Carwell, Jim Rimel, Douglas Williams, Timothy Harvey and Gregg Williams Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
