C. CLAYTON CRAIG STAUNTON, VA Charles Clayton Craig, 94, of 1802 North Drive, Staunton, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. Clayton was born November 26, 1918 in Middlebrook, a son of Robert Ernest and Emma Blanche (Shaw) Craig. He was raised as a son of Newton A. and Irene Bell (Arehart) Craig, his great uncle and aunt from the time he was nine months old. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Adult Bible Class. He attended the Staunton Church of the Brethren Senior Adults meetings and was a member of Staunton Chapter 1650 of AARP. Mr. Craig was a farmer and retired from Westinghouse Electric with 26 ½ years of service. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Yeago Craig, whom he married August 22, 1953; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann (Craig) and Daniel Howard "Danny" McAllister; a granddaughter, Megan Marie McAllister; a niece, Marsha (Hines) Dodd and her husband, Garland "Butch" Dodd of Mechanicsville; and two nephews, Carl H. Craig, Jr. and Kenny C. Craig of Middlebrook. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his three brothers, Rev. Herman Shaw Craig, Ernest Russell Craig, and Carl Hadden Craig, Sr. and a sister, Evelyn Virginia (Craig) Hines. He was also preceded in death by his great uncle and aunt and their six daughters, who were like sisters to him, Clora (Craig) Beard, Eva O'Lillian Craig, Sallie (Craig) Lotts, Nellie (Craig) Yeago, Antha (Craig) Buchanan, and Vinnie (Craig) Buchanan. He was the last survivor of both families. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Richard Dietrich. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Mackay, Ron McAllister, David Sorrells, Roger Knott, Junior Knott, James Reid, and Vernon Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Adult Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church and the Staunton Church of the Brethren Senior Adults. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Frederick Street, Staunton, 24401.
