Charles Lester Cummings, Sr.

CHARLES L. CUMMINGS, SR. STAUNTON, VA Charles Lester Cummings, Sr., 83, husband of Betty Jane (Cook) Cummings, of 213 A South St. Clair Street, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born December 7, 1928, in Minster, OH, a son of the late Lester and Freda A. (Laufersweile) Cummings. Mr. Cummings was a retired veteran of the U. S. Navy with 20 years of service. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center and Valley Vocational Tech Center as an instructor of electricity. He was a master craftsman in woodworking and model building. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, family members include three sons, Charles L. Cummings, Jr., of Staunton, Timothy Glen Cummings of Hickory, NC, and Jonathan Paul Cummings of Staunton; a sister, Jane Martin of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Hannah, Lee, Mary Kathryn, Sarah, William, and Emily Cummings; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Pastor Barbara Sawyer. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
