CHARLES H. KNIGHT STAUNTON, VA Charles Henry Knight, 77, widower of Dorothy May (Shiflett) Knight, died Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born July 20, 1936, in Augusta County, a son of the late William Henry and Zelma (Byram) Knight. Mr. Knight served in the National Guard. Prior to retirement, he was part owner of Shop and Save Supermarkets and he had worked for many years with Reid's Supermarkets. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, President of Virginia Food Dealers Association, Staunton Retail Merchants Association, Augusta Lion's Club, and an avid antique dealer. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Janice Knight and Greg and Chrissy Knight; and seven grandchildren, Casey Rene, Christopher Ryan, Rebekah Mae, Joshua Daniel, Rachel Grace, Abenezer Samuel, and Teshale Gregory Knight. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Eugene "Billy" Knight. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (August 29, 2013) at Calvary Baptist Church by Pastor Bobby Campbell. Burial will follow in Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Paul Harris, Ray Ergenbright, Billy Reed, Richard Byram, Mike Hagenseeker, Lee Coffman, John Birchfield, Bobby Sims, and Rich Ingraham. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's S.S. Class of Calvary Baptist Church, Denny Fleisher, Garner Byram, Kenneth Olsen, Donnie Meeks, and Jerry Novack. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Henry Funeral Home. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Peggy Guffey for her care.
