Charles Eugene Lenker STAUNTON, VA… Charles Eugene Lenker, age 93, of Staunton, Virginia, went to be with the Lord January. 29, 2017 at 4:00 a.m. at Shenandoah Home. He was born Feb. 24, 1923, at Rossburg, Ohio, to the late Gerald and Ruth (DeWeese) Lenker. He is survived by his wife Hannah (Withers) Lenker and children: Garry (Anna) Lenker, Leon E. Lenker, Richard (Monica) Lenker, Dale (Shelia) Lenker, Mark (Marie) Lenker, and Stephen L. Lenker; 14 grandchildren; 17 great – grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Marcia) Lenker and David Lenker; and sisters: Mary Richey, Geraldine (Lowell) Threewits, and Naoma Voke In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant son Nathan Daniel Lenker, Annette M. Lenker (granddaughter) and brothers: Joe Lenker, Paul Lenker, and Marvin Lenker. Charles Eugene Lenker was called to serve the Lord in the early 1940s. After college, marriage, and seminary, he invested his life serving the Lord Jesus Christ and raising his family. He pastored over ten congregations throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Virginia where he made many friends. Appreciating God’s creation, he enjoyed gardening and traveling. He also enjoyed hunting with family and friends. The Lenker family will receive friends at Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m on February 1st. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Galen Combs, the Rev. George Bowers, and the Rev. Allen Lenker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren Outreach or Samaritan’s Purse. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
