CHARLES L. RALSTON STAUNTON, VA… On Friday, March 9, 2018, Charles Lee Ralston, a former resident of Weyers Cave, passed from his home in Baldwin Park, Staunton, to finally live with Jesus. Charlie was born on March 20, 1925, to Charles and Clara Ralston, both preceded him in death. In 1947 Charlie married Edith Bess Garber. They were married 67 years, until her passing in 2015. Also predeceased are two brothers, Elwood and Franklin Ralston, two sisters, Frances Landes and Mary Bell Cline; a brother-in-law, Claude Landes; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Helen Ralston. Charlie has a surviving brother, John Thomas Ralston; a brother-in-law, Stanley Cline; and a sister-in-law, Ann Ralston. Other survivors include a son, Carson Ralston (Bonnie); a daughter, Sherry Taylor (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Ralston, Israel and Hannah Stickley; two step-grandchildren, Jamie and Jon (Jennifer) Taylor; a great grandchild, Serenity Faith Ralston; and four step-great grandchildren, Natalee, Kendall, Kirra, and Collin Taylor. Don Landes, Charlie’s nephew, was his constant support, supplying milkshakes, prayers, laughter, and love. Charlie’s life was faith, family, neighbors, golf, and his brothers and sisters in Christ. Mr. Ralston was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. During his career he worked at A & P, owned and operated Verona Food Mart, and was later employed as a meat inspector with the State of Virginia. Per his request, there will be no visitation or viewing. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery by the Rev.
