CHARLES C. ROBERSON STAUNTON, VA Charles "Bo" Carlton Roberson, 84, husband of Cassie (Ayscue) Roberson of 909 Donaghe Street, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in King's Daughters' Community Health and Rehab Center. He was born October 3, 1927, in Henderson, North Carolina, a son of the late Charlie Morton and Annie (House) Roberson. Mr. Roberson attended Wake Forest College and played on the Demon Deacon Football team where he was termed as one of the fastest college football half-backs of his time. He served as Manager of Sears Roebuck for 30 years and was assistant manager of Heck's for 5 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, having served as Deacon for 40 years, Superintendent of Sunday School, taught Jr. Boys Sunday School class for a number of years, and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood of the Church. In addition to his wife, his childhood sweetheart, to whom he married on July 24, 1948, family members include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark Roberson of Staunton, Dean and Debbie Roberson, of Charlotte, NC, and Gary and Cindy Roberson; a sister, Maxine Roberson Allen, of Henderson, NC; and seven grandchildren, Trevor and Megan Roberson, Abby and Will Roberson, Jennifer Kite, Justin Lambert, and Jeremy Harvey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Winifred Roberson and a sister, Peggy Denton. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Steve Traylor. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, in the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Gary Roberson, 84 Finch Lane, Staunton. Memorials may be made to the Brotherhood of First Baptist Church, 406 W. Frederick Street, Staunton, VA 24401 and the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24402. The family would like to thank Dr. Kerry Alexander, Dr. Douglas Degen, and the staff of King's Daughter's Community Health and Rehab Center for their care.
