CHARLES H. SCOTT STAUNTON, VA Charles Hunter Scott, 73, husband of Ann A. Scott, formerly of West Augusta and residing at 3184 West Wind Drive, Harrisonburg, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at 164 Hill Haven Lane, Staunton. He was born April 17, 1939, in Bath County a son of the late John W. and Laura M. (Clark) Scott. Mr. Scott was owner and CEO of B & S Contracting, Inc., for 30 years. He was past president of the Virginia Asphalt Association and the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders Association. He was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, was a member of the Choir, and a member of the Special Studies Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Janet (Wenger) Scott; three brothers, John W., J. Patrick, and Donald L. Scott; and a sister, Joyce L. Neas. Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Alan Cramer of Augusta County and Leslie and Luke Hewitt of West Augusta; three step sons and two step-daughters-in-law, Chris S. and Karen L. Botkin of Harrisonburg, Brian D. Botkin of Churchville, and Kevin M. and Susan C. Botkin of Milford; four grandchildren, Alison S. and Catherine E. Cramer, N. Hunter and Mary Lauren Ghidoni; four step-grandchildren; and four nieces and their spouses, Lisa C. and Robert Wells, Laurie S. and Kenneth Hummel, Christy S. and Jason Wilson, and Laura K. Scott. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012, in the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Charles A. McFarlin and Herbert T. Lewis. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael S. Agnor, Richard H. Beard, Marlin P. Hewitt, Richard T. Homes, Don G. Layne, Joseph D. Snyder, Larry G. Thompson, and Samuel Whitmore. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Harless, Employees of B & S Contracting Inc., members of his Sunday School class and Choir of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, and members of the Wilson Memorial High School Class of 1957. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, 4141 Spring Hill Road, Staunton, VA 24401 in his memory.
