CLAIRE B. THOMAS WAYNESBORO, VA Claire (Bovard) Thomas, 91, widow of George Petherick Thomas, of 11 Jefferson Green died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Fishersville. She was born July 18, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late George Milton and Margaret (Warren) Bovard. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Thomas was owner of Bovard's Jewelers, the family business founded in 1859 by her great grandfather, Milton Bovard. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Isabel Thomas. Family members include two sons, George P. Thomas, Jr., of Ambler, PA and Stephen B. Thomas and his wife Dianne of Waynesboro; two sisters, Isabel Fancourt of Greensboro, NC and Mary Louise Barnes of Philadelphia, PA; and two grandchildren, Amanda Thomas Kaeser and husband, Kyle Kaeser and Stephen B. Thomas, Jr. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 in First Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro by the Rev. Dr. Glen Holman. Burial will be held in Church of the Messiah Cemetery in Gwynned, PA. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
