CLARA P. SHRECKHISE STAUNTON, VA Clara Elizabeth (Painter) Shreckhise, 91, of Staunton, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. She was born March 24, 1923, in Fishersville, a daughter of the late James Andrew and Annie Pearl (Wood) Painter. A graduate of Rockingham Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Clara spent her life serving others through her work. She was an RN with King's Daughters' Hospital, Western State Hospital, and Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center. After retirement, she served part time as a nurse at Baldwin Park. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Linda Shreckhise of Mt. Sidney and John II and Marilyn Shreckhise, of Grottoes; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frances P. Coffey of Staunton and Jean and Jim Dickerson of Richmond; four grandchildren, Tara and husband, Frank Durso, Matthew and wife, Elizabeth Shreckhise, John Shreckhise, III, and Amanda and husband, Bobby Rohrer; and seven great grandchildren, Alex and Grace Durso, Mason and Ellis Shreckhise, Drew and Ella Shreckhise, and Bobby Rohrer, Jr. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Editha Owens and Helen Painter Staton. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. Paul O'Gorek and the Rev. Sally Robinson. Burial at Mt. Carmel will be private.
