Corene Viola Wagner

CORENE P. WAGNER WAYNESBORO, VA Corene Viola Price Wagner, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at home, 406 King Ave., Waynesboro. She was born March 22, 1928, in Rockbridge County, at the foot of Little North Mountain, the daughter of Mary Frances Sutherland and Gaines Rosco Price. She is survived by (as she put it) six beautiful daughters, one son, and one step-son. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild, plus a number of nieces and nephews. Corene was preceded in death by two husbands, Rollie Roland Brown of Addison, Michigan and James Earl Wagner of Staunton, VA. Also preceding her are two brothers, Arthur E. Price and George R. Price, both of Staunton, VA. Corene's siblings surviving are, Lilly Shiflett of Staunton, Janie Wood of Grottoes, Ray L. Price of Churchville, Walter O. Price and Ernie G. Price, both of Harrisonburg, and Lewis H. Price of Staunton. Corene is also survived by, John and Meranda Dorn, their two sons, Leroy and Robert, also a daughter, Talitha (Tally). She retired from Genesco after 32 years. She could sew just about anything. She enjoyed fixing things and was assuredly a hard working woman. Her goal was to see her family had their needs taken care of. She sacrificed many a time her own needs and wants, so others could have theirs. Even though she may have been sad, and negative at times. Corene did set a fine example in showing love to those she held so dear. She will be missed. For over sixty years she was known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her favorite scripture was John 6:68, "Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life". She knew that according to God's word the Bible, John 17:3 says that "taking in knowledge", is very important if we would like to see a time when death will be no more (Revelation 21:3,4). This was Corene's hope. Corene Viola Price Wagner's daughters: Susan Fitzgerald of Verona, Faye Sutherland, Sally Miller, and Sharon Bussard of Staunton, Patty Baker and Josephine (Josie) Redifer, both of Waynesboro; a son and step-son, Charlie Crawford of Greenville and Thomas L. Wagner of Staunton. A special thanks to grandson, Josh L. Redifer for his help getting his grandmother medical assistance when needed; to daughter, Susan Fitzgerald for all her one on one care no matter what time it was, day or night. Much special thanks also to Melvin Fitzgerald for his care and love he has shown not only to his mother-in-law, but has shown most warmly to his wife, Susan Fitzgerald, my care-giver helper. Thanks much. To her sister, Janie Wood for her being there with her smile and sense of humor, staying at the hospital, and with help with transportation. Many thanks. To daughter, Sharon Bussard for the time mother spent with you. She enjoyed it very much. Especially when you helped her get all prettied up to go to the Kingdom Hall. It made her feel good. To daughter,Faye Sutherland for doing all the paper work for as long as you did. Personally I hate paperwork. HA! HA! To daughter, Sally Miller for all your love and support. To daughter, Patty Baker for the time mother spent with you and for keeping her moving. I know caregiving is not easy. It's a learning experience, you did what you could. To Margaret Wallace for the time you spent with mother. She enjoyed your visits. She loved to talk about the old times. Thanks also for being there in the uneasy times. Many thanks also to those who have called or visited mother in the past 2 or 3 years. It meant a lot to her. A loving thanks to my husband, Glenn E. Redifer for all his love and patience through the years. He is a good man, I think I'll keep him!. Thanks to everyone who cared about Corene Viola Price Wagner, either in thought, word, or deed. Written by daughter, Josephine "Josie" Redifer
