Curtis Tyler Wood

CURTIS T. WOOD SWOOPE, VA Curtis Tyler Wood, 84, husband of Marie Shiflet Wood, of 520 Swoope Road, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1928, in Clifton Forge, a son of the late David Isadore Wood and Maggie Myrtle (Adams) Wood. Mr. Wood retired from Smiths Transfer with 25 years of service. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church. He was an avid turkey hunter and loved the outdoors. In addition to his wife, family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rick Burton and step grandchildren, Josh Burton and Tara Kuk, all of Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John D. Wood and James Calvin Wood. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Hebron Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Frank Wyche. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be James Wenger, Rick Shiflet, Howard Sensabaugh, Dwight Wood, David Wood, Eddie Wood, David Hewitt, Larry Mayer, and Jonathan Riley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Junior Hewitt, Clay Hewitt, Jon Arneson, Bill Sellers, Frank Henderson, and Dale Powers. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:30 p.m. at the Church prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church, 423 Hebron Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
