Carolyn Marie Boyd

December 9, 1946 — December 6, 2020

Carolyn Marie Boyd

Early Sunday morning, December 6th, Jesus the Good Shepherd took Carolyn Marie Boyd in, through and out of the valley of the shadow of death. Her husband David, son Sean and daughter Heidi were attending her. She is now, where Jesus wants her to be—in His presence.

Carolyn (Hellwege) was born in Nampa, Idaho December 9th, 1946. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1965 before attending the University of Idaho, the University of New Mexico and Monroe College in Rochester N.Y. attaining a degree in interior design.

Carolyn and David (Boyd) celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in August of 2020.

A brief sketch of her life goes something like this:

• She bore two children, Sean and Heidi—both born in Albuquerque New Mexico.
• She was a gifted cook winning several awards and earning undying gratitude from her family and the friends who enjoyed her food throughout the years.
• She and David owned Toys and Duds by Boyd in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The business thrived primarily because of Carolyn’s love for (most) people.
• She was an extraordinary pastor’s wife (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod). A vocation requiring deep reservoirs of compassion, patience and a whole lot of love.
• Carolyn owned and operated her own interior design business in Southern California and New Mexico. Her mission: to take the beauty of God’s creation and translate it for the inside of the home. She completed that mission many times.
• What brought her joy? Sean and Heidi and later her grandchildren, Emma, Peter, Samuel, Fiona, Grace, Avalin, Lillian, Zachary, A’Cora and Corri.
• What brought her joy? Her daughter in law, Katie. Her son in law, Edwardo. Her granddaughter in law Jessica. Her grandson in law, Chris.
• What brought her joy? Her church family spread across the U.S. landscape, most recently at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Charlottesville and her current pastor, Rev. Ben Maton.
• What brought her joy? Her neighbors in Staunton Virginia and the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.
• Who did she admire? Dr. Kelvin Raybon and his entire staff at the Augusta Cancer Center. Their extraordinary skill, and enduring compassion for her and all those suffering this terrible disease.

What brought us joy in knowing her? Her!
The ‘holes in our hearts’ may heal, but not easily and for some not completely.
