Catherine A. Robinson

ELKTON, VA-- Catherine Alt Robinson-Rife, 90, of 410 Lee Avenue, Elkton, VA and formerly of Staunton, was welcomed into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, November 21. She married the late Carrington Henderson "Dick" Robinson, of Alleghany County, in 1939. They raised a beautiful family of six children, primarily in the Staunton area. She was a loving housewife and mother, while he worked for Moore Brothers Construction in Verona, VA. After Mr. Robinson's passing in 1977, she married the late Jim Rife, of Staunton. They, too, enjoyed life together for about 6 years. Catherine is a well-known and respected woman of great faith in Jesus Christ, and a charter member of the Lincoln Avenue Pentecostal Holiness Church, Staunton. She had an extraordinary love for people and was a firm believer who witnessed until her last few days on Earth. While tending her own children at home, she encouraged and counseled many new converts by phone and even took in several foster children for a short period. She cared for and encouraged many family members, pastors, and evangelists in her home. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Robinson Coyner, in 1971. The children who survive are: Betty Jo Boggs, daughter, and her husband, Rev. Billy Boggs, of Roanoke, VA; Judith C. Dowell, daughter, of Elkton, VA; Stephen D. Robinson, son, of Bent Mountain, VA; Cecilia R. Hughett, daughter, and husband, Douglas E. Hughett, of Winston-Salem, NC; Rev. Barbara Hensley, daughter, and husband, Glendon, of Elkton, VA. Her grandchildren are: Pamela B. Stewart, and husband, Rev. Michael Stewart, of Franklin Springs, GA; Susan B. Carpenter, of Costa Mesa, CA; Jonathan Mark Boggs and wife, Clara, of Roanoke, V A; Karin B. Kirby, of Winston-Salem, NC; Kimberly D. Huettner, of Columbus, GA; Christina Robinson, of Woods Farm, UK; Sara Robinson, of Staunton, VA; Heather R. Schronce , and husband, Rick, of Annapolis, MD; Luke D. Hughett, of Brooklyn, NY; Megan H. Russell, and husband, Darryl, of Carthage, NC; James H. Cain, III and wife, Kristi, of Buford, GA; Seth C. Cain, and wife, Ashley, of Greer, SC; Natalie H. Shifflett, and husband, Adam, of Elkton, VA; Emily C. Hensley, of Elkton, VA; Jantzen E. Hensley, of Elkton, VA. There are 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Granny Great". Psalm 16:11 (ESV) says, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Her life in Christ, has now been rewarded by her promotion to her heavenly home. The celebration of this special lady will take place at Henry Funeral Home, 1030 West Beverley St., Staunton, VA. The family will welcome friends and family on Friday evening, November 23, from 6-8 p.m., with service on Saturday, November 24, at 1 p.m. Interment will be Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Former pastors, along with her grandson, Rev. Seth Cain, will officiate.
