CATHERINE A. SAYERS STAUNTON, VA Catherine Andrew Sayers, 86, wife of John Sayers, of Staunton, passed away Sunday, June, 7, 2015 at Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born February 9, 1929, in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Kate Andrew. In addition to her husband of 65 years, Catherine is survived by her son, John and wife, Joan, of Staunton; her daughter, Andrea of Staunton; two grandsons, Andy and wife, Shelli of Waterloo, IA and Charlie of Fredericksburg; great granddaughters, Lily and Virginia of Waterloo, IA; and 19 nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of seven siblings. Catherine attended a two year program at Radford College. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom who was very active in all her kid's, and grandkid's, activities. She loved her second home in McDowell, VA, entertaining family and friends and making maple syrup there for over 40 years. She loved to fish and play bridge. Catherine was a devoted member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Christian Education programs and the choir throughout the years. She was an active member of the Methodist Women serving as a church and district officer. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert W. Sharp. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in the Henry Funeral Home.
