CHARLES L. CUMMINGS, JR.  STAUNTON, VA… Charles Lester “Chuck” Cummings, Jr., 59, of Staunton, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1958 in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of the late Charles Lester, Sr., and Betty Jane (Cook) Cummings.  Chuck was a Resource Conservationist employed by the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School Class of ‘77 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from James Madison University. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a golf member at Ingleside. He was a skilled woodworker, avid fisherman, and outdoor enthusiast. Family members include a son, Charles Lester “Lee” Cummings, III of Staunton; a daughter, Mary Cummings of Staunton; two brothers, Timothy Cummings of Hickory, NC and Jonathan Cummings of Staunton; nieces and nephews, Hannah Cummings, Sarah Cummings, Will Cummings, Emily Calhoun, Jackson Cox, and Stuart Cox; and the mother of his children, Jacquelyn Lee Walters. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2000 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, by the Rev. T. Bryson Smith.  Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorials may be made to the Valley Conservation Council, 17 Barristers Row, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
