DAVID W. ALLISON STAUNTON, VA.. David Whittier Allison, 88, widower of Mary Christine (James) Allison, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at New Life, Fishersville. He was born May 4, 1923, in Renova, PA a son of the late Eugene Victor and Ruth (Whittier) Allison. Mr. Allison was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the Carrier Roosevelt. He previously was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Sylvania Corp. He retired from American Safety Razor. He was a faithful member of Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Thomas Myers; and a brother, Kermit Allison; three sisters, Madelene, Lillian, and Dorothea. Family members include a son, Boyd Wayne Myers of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Will Lyle of Fishersville; daughter-in-law, Lois Myers of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Gordon Allison of Sinking Springs, PA and Ben Allison of Winston Salem, NC; nine grandchildren, Kelly, Shawnie, John, Chriscilla, Tranella, Jelena, Wayne, Jr., Trevor, and Zach; fifteen great grandchildren; three nieces; and five nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church by the Rev. William Strickler. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Price, Jr., Justin Roadcap, John Myers, Scott Buchanan, Jeff Price, and John Wells. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home.
