David Wayne Byrd, Sr.

David Wayne Byrd “Birdie” Sr., 75, widower of Sharon Lee Byrd, of Mt. Solon, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Augusta Health, Fishersville.             He was born February 11, 1943, a son of the late David B. and Dorothy M. (Toman) Byrd.             Prior to retirement, he was employed by J & D Automotive as a mechanic and built many homes in the community.             He attended Faith Baptist Church.             In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Byrd, Jr.             Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Lora Ann and Gary Lynch; a son, Jerald Dwayne Byrd; grandchildren, Christopher and Devin Byrd and Anatasia Chittum, whom he considered his granddaughter; and a great granddaughter, RavenMarie Newton-Byrd.             Family and friends will gather to share stories beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home.             Special appreciation is expressed to Courtney and Anatasia Chittum for always checking on him and visiting him when he wasn’t feeling the best.             Condolences may be sent to the family at www.henryfuneralhome.net .
