Delmar Theodore Moats, Sr.

DELMAR T. MOATS, SR. STAUNTON, VA Delmar Theodore Moats, Sr., died Monday, June 25, 2012, at his son's residence. He was born November 26, 1944, a son of Virginia Bell (Strother) Moats and the late Trimmer Theodore Moats. Mr. Moats was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed by DuPont with 31 years of service. He attended Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church of Waynesboro. In addition to his mother, family members include a son, Delmar T. Moats, Jr., and his mother, Charlotte Moats of Staunton; a step-daughter, Christine Moats of Maryland; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald L. and Justine Moats of Staunton; a sister, Carnetha S. Redman of Churchville; two grandchildren, Brian Moats and Davian Short; three great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a beloved lifelong friend for 20 years, Sue Ellen Moyer of Waynesboro. He was preceded in death by his father, Trimmer Theodore Moats; a sister, Juanita Mae (Moats) Redman; and a brother-in-law, William P. Redman (Carnetha). A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Paul LaPrevotte. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
