DELORES VIEL MOYER  SWOOPE, VA…  Marguerite Delores Viel Moyer, wife of Lelon Edward “Lee” Moyer, of Swoope, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at her residence.  She was born June 15, 1937 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Charles F. Viel and Marguerite Powell Viel. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Moyer and George Webb of Staunton and Sharon Moyer James of Weyers Cave; three granddaughters, Natasha Michelle James, Melanie Danielle Glendye and husband, Garrett, and Jessica Noel James and fiancé, Ryan Blankenship; two great grandsons, Wesley Glendye  and Tyler Blankenship; one sister, Patricia “Pat” Armstrong and husband, Bennie, of Churchville; one brother, Charles Viel; a sister-in-law, Etta Moyer of Dover, DE; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rev. Liston Moyer. Delores was an active member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a trustee and served on evangelism committees. She was Sunday School Superintendent, on the Caring Committee, and loved to cook for all the meals. She was a nursery Sunday School teacher for a number of years.  Delores was a volunteer at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank of Verona. She also helped at her own church with the food pantry there. Delores was a former secretary of Kitch’n Cook’d Potato Chip Company and had also worked at Buffalo Gap High School. She was a member of the Geriatric Wonders volleyball team senior group that played in the Nationals in Louisville, KY. She loved all sports.  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert W. Sharp. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church or the Food Pantry of Marquis Memorial, 1614 West Beverley Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
