Diane Ham (Tarkington) Biehn, 67, of Staunton died Thursday, November 8, 2018, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born December 17, 1950 in Staunton, a daughter of Carrie Elizabeth (Ham) Tarkington and the late Frank Cherry Tarkington. Prior to retirement, she was a school teacher for 34 years, having taught in the Staunton City Schools System for over 20 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she was a former vestry member and a Chalicist. In addition to her mother, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Captain Andrew M. Biehn, USN and Barbara Wisniewski Biehn of Alexandria; a daughter and son-in-law, Lt. Col. Carrie A. Cox, USAF and Dr. Steven S. Cox of Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Lee, Ana, Michael, Lucie, and Charlotte; a niece, Claire Garth Tarkington Thomas of Charlottesville; special friends, Mary Ellen Earhart and Elvira Simmons; and her church family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Gill Tarkington Thomas. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018, in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Shelby Ochs Owen. Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home.
