Dianne Beatrice Mason

DIANNE R. MASON STAUNTON, VA…The story of a fun-loving, spontaneous, and extremely entertaining lady began on May 19, 1940, in Birmingham, England where she was born to Norman and Ena Ritterband of Bradford, England. After hearing the song, “San Francisco,” by Scott Mackenzie, Dianne decided that she too wanted to live where people wore flowers in their hair and she moved to San Francisco. It was there that she would meet the love of her life and husband, David. They had two children, Daniel and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Professor David T. Mason of Mary Baldwin College. She is survived by her children, Daniel Mason of Bailey, Colorado and Elizabeth Mason of Arlington, VA; a brother, Gareth Ritterband of Yorkshire, England, and two grand dogs, Rocky and Joe Mason. Dianne is a graduate of the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) and worked for the State of Virginia for 30 years as a social worker, where she made many life-long friends. She was also a member of the Temple House of Israel for many years. A Celebration of Life was held at Temple House of Israel on Saturday, September 2, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad or to the SPCA. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
